6th Global Botanic Gardens Congress: Botanic Gardens in Society: Visions for the Future25.06.2017 to 30.06.2017
Centre International de Conférences de Genève, Geneva, Switzerland
Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI) organises an international congress every 3-4 years. These congresses help major actors from botany and conservation to share their experiences, discuss their visions and launch collaborative projects.
The 6th Global Botanic Gardens Congress (6GBGC) is to be hosted by the Conservatory and Botanical Garden of the City of Geneva (CJBG) in 2017, the same year that the CJBG celebrates its 200th Anniversary.
For the first time, the congress will be bilingual (English – French). This will increase the visibility of the congress in French speaking countries.
Around 600 participants from all around the world are expected to attend the congress. Most of them will be leaders of botanic gardens.
Besides the keynote speakers and symposia, the 6GBGC will host several workshops and panel discussions on key issues, as well as a number of satellite meetings: general assemblies, strategic councils and committee meetings of biodiversity conservation related organisations.
